My Top 5 Resources to Learn as a Game Artist

1. YouTube

YouTube - I think everyone knows and uses YouTue to learn stuff. I started to learn from YouTube videos. Even now, I use YouTube to learn something new and useful about game development, game art, and CG in general. But It’s very hard to find very professional work/tutorials out there, so It’s better to invest in some other websites which provide more in-depth video courses from professionals, which I’ve covered down below.

Some of the YouTube channels I’m subscribed to. I learned from some of them in the past, and sometimes still learning something new from all of them:

1. Channels to learn Blender and CG Art in general:

2. Pluralsight

Pluralsight - Before it was Digital-Tutors, and now they named it Pluralsight. I learned so much valuable skills and info from the top artist here. It’s not free, you need to pay $29/month to access entire 5,000+ course library and more, or $299/year with more features, read more about that here. I still use this website. I recommend paying for one month and to have a good schedule for your month/week, and the whole day. Set days and time when you can learn and do it. Don’t wait if you paid for it. Take a month challenge to watch a few video courses.

3. Udemy

Udemy - Udemy is a global marketplace for learning and teaching online where students are mastering new skills and achieving their goals by learning from an extensive library of over 45,000 courses taught by expert instructors. I’ve bought a lot of video courses here in Udemy and learned a lot of new skills. I’ve even learned C# programming in Unity and Unity in general. I highly recommend this website if you want to learn something, really fast.
And don’t afraid if you see really high prices on all Udemy courses, just register and log in using your account, and check for the prices every day, sometimes they drop to only $10 every few weeks/days when you using your account. I also noticed that prices on a website and mobile app are different. I just bought 4 new video courses from a mobile app for $10 each. And on a website, all of those courses were priced at $29. So this is a really good thing to look at.

4. CtrlPaint

CtrlPaint - is a free learning resource dedicated to the basics of digital painting. Each bite-sized video covers a different concept, allowing you to learn complex subjects in manageable increments. I’m learning digital painting from this website by myself, and I highly recommend it for everyone who is interested in digital art or just want to learn to draw traditional and in digital ways.

5. Polycount

Polycount - is a website and community of professional & hobbyist artists that specialize in creating 3D art for video games. You can find very talented artist posting their work, work in progress images. This is one of the biggest 3D artists community, where you can learn from other artists and post your own projects. I found this website to work really great as an Inspiration resource.
